Product development

The harsh weather conditions of the north have made us understand the varied challenges that are set by nature for our brushes. Taking into consideration these requirements, and in collaboration with our clients, we develop brushes that are the best in the world.

We develop everything that goes into producing brushing efficiency, comfort of use, and environmental friendliness, along with producing brushes that are also insuperably cost-efficient.

Our strong and determined product development is demonstrated by various national and global patents and design protection which has been granted to our products and production practices. The ECOLINE™ product family has been created as a result of this product development work and it represents the very apex of its field.

PIASSAVA BROOM

In 1955 the inventive Paulus developed the Piassava street broom which, due to its superiority, soon replaced the birch twig broom throughout Finland. A patent was applied for the invention. Sajakorpi Oy had a dominant market share of broom production for fifteen years. In 1975 their production was finished. The same broom model is still used in Finland produced by other broom producers.

FIBRE MELTING
In the production of street sweeping brooms in 1975, Sajakorpi Oy was the very first to discover the technique of melting fibres together. A national patent for this innovation was granted in 1981.

SKI JUMPING HILL ELEMENT AND "SPEDE" CATAPULT
One successful product development project was the development of plastic coating for ski jumping hills. The project was undertaken by a request which was received from the Finnish Ski Association. Plastic coatings were marketed together in partnership with Pertti “Spede” Pasanen, who had developed a jumping catapult. PRODUCTION OF OUR OWN PLASTIC FIBRE
As plastic brush fibres were imported goods and their quantities had grown, Sajakorpi Oy started to produce its own polypropylene fibre in 1983.

SAJA SAFETY™ ELEMENT
Sajakorpi Oy has developed the Saja Safety™ hill element, which has since been granted a worldwide patent. Thanks to this a market share of 60% was achieved in plastic covers for ski jump hills. Several dozen plastic covers for hills were produced for the USA, Canada and Japan as well. This business line was sold to Ab C E Lindgren Oy in Porvoo in 1995. THE WORLD’S FIRST FULLY PLASTIC BRUSH RINGS
In 1996 Sajakorpi Oy announced its 100% polypropylene brush ring. This environmentally friendly and recyclable brush ring proved to be more economic and even technically better than traditional brush rings. The new generation of brush rings was immediately included as genuine parts in many brush machines in Finland, Sweden and Germany.
